I used sporting equipment because growing up, I was good at sports but also good at art. I didn't want to be just a jock or just a girlie-girl. I wanted to be more than that. I wanted to be well-rounded, and I wanted people to recognize and celebrate multiple talents.

My challenge to Amanda was to ensure that she was respecting her work by giving it her best mental effort. I asked her often to pause just for a moment before the final execution.
