Welcome to the 2024 AP Art and Design Exhibit! Now in its fifth year, the AP Art and Design Exhibit proudly showcases the creative rigor demonstrated in AP 2-D Art and Design, AP 3-D Art and Design, and AP Drawing Portfolio Exams. This exhibit highlights a diverse range of
  • student ideas (visual and written),
  • styles of art-making, influenced by both historical and contemporary approaches to art and design,
  • innovation in materials and approaches to art thinking and making through practice, experimentation, and revision,
  • guided inquiry through the investigation of materials, processes, and ideas,
  • synthesis, and
  • exemplary 2-D design, 3-D design, or drawing skills.
This year’s exhibit honors and recognizes visual art education programs worldwide that support student-driven inquiry through art and design. Designed as a teaching and learning tool, the exhibit celebrates student accomplishments while highlighting and sharing best practices from students, teachers, and school leaders.
The AP Art and Design Exhibit acknowledges student achievements by publishing their work, making each represented student a published artist. Each student's page contains a unique URL that can be shared across social media channels. Additionally, the 2024 AP Art and Design Exhibit is available on AP Central®, linked in AP Classroom, and shareable across social media platforms.
The AP Art and Design program, founded in 1972, has grown significantly. From about 4,500 students in 1978, it now sees over 80,000 participants annually. Research shows that AP students are better prepared for college, and those who score three or higher on AP Exams can earn college credit. AP Art and Design students are more likely to enroll in college, stay in college, major in art, excel in their classes, and graduate on time. Success in AP courses and exams can also help students save on college tuition and reduce student debt.
Congratulations to this year’s featured students, teachers, and school leaders! I commend you on your visual art achievements through AP Art and Design.

Congratulations to all the artists in this year's AP Art and Design exhibition. We extend a special thank you to your families, whose daily support has been instrumental in your artistic journey. Viewing the student work reminds us of life's mystery, struggles, passions, and the desire to leave our mark on the world. We are grateful for the opportunity to view these artworks, which are essentially windows into their unique communities and experiences. We celebrate the complexity with which students perceive themselves in their communities, their concerns with their identities, and the changing world they inhabit. The richness of their voices and stories shines through each piece, and we understand more about student experiences.
This year's artworks are a testament to the selected students' creativity, effort, and artistic abilities to communicate their creative vision through innovative materials and processes. Each work showcases the wide assortment and range of themes presented through originality, inventiveness, and technical proficiency. The selected students show a high level of accomplishment in synthesizing ideas and communicating an emotional resonance to a contemporary reflection, demonstrating contemplative thinking and social intelligence. Through deep thinking, many artworks question conscientious thinking, morality, and self-determination. We take great pride in celebrating these students and their remarkable accomplishments. Their success illustrates the dynamic creative spirit of their artistic perception.
The AP Art and Design Exhibition serves as a beacon for art educators and students, guiding them to share the unique voices of these students. In putting together this exhibition, we aimed to celebrate each student's approach to creativity, innovation, and critical thinking through inquiry, process, and practice. We want to thank all students, teachers, and the College Board for their pivotal role in this effort. The inquiry-based curriculum of AP Art and Design has the transformative power to make the world a better place.

What an extraordinary celebration of creativity, perseverance, and artistic vision! The 2024 AP Art and Design Exhibition is a testament to the incredible talents of young artists and designers who have poured their hearts and minds into exploring ideas that matter deeply to them—ideas that are often personal, thought-provoking, and transformative.
This year’s exhibition showcases an impressive range of exceptional works, including Casey Dunham’s quiet yet profound renderings of seclusion, which explore the complexities of feeling alone. Ziyang Gao’s innovative designs challenge traditional boundaries by replacing the canvas with irregular shapes and forms, creating powerful visual narratives about how women strive to break free from societal constructs. Samadhi Jones’ intricate assemblages, crafted from everyday materials like bed sheets, buttons, safety pins, and sequins, offer lush, thought-provoking statements on the impact of technology on our world and our bodies.
To all the students: your innovative spirit, dedication, and courage in bringing your unique visions to life are nothing short of inspiring. To the friends and families who have supported and encouraged these artists along the way, your role in this journey is invaluable and deeply appreciated. To the educators—those tireless mentors who have guided, nurtured, and championed these students throughout the year—your commitment and passion are the foundation upon which this vibrant community of artists thrives. And, a heartfelt thank you to College Board for creating this incredible platform that celebrates the creative voices of students and empowers them to share their visions with the world.
This exhibition is a celebration of the immense potential of art to connect, inspire, and challenge us. It is my sincere hope that these remarkable works will leave viewers with a renewed sense of wonder and a deeper appreciation for the creative voices of this generation.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making this exhibition an unforgettable success!
